CinéSchool 22-23

FACE Foundation and Villa Albertine, in partnership with the French Embassy in the US, presented the second edition of CinéSchool for the school year 22-23.

CinéSchool broadened the availability of French-speaking cinema for schools and students across the US by offering a selection of 9 free movies adapted for vairous age groups, and available on the streaming platform Festival Scope.

French teachers got access to educational resources for each movie, and thanks to digital tools like Flip, students were able to share online their reviews in French about the films. Directors David Alaux, (Les As de la Jungle), Arnaud Demuynck (La Chouette en Toque), Olivier Babinet (Swagger), Hélène Giraud and Thomas Szabo (Minuscule 2, les mandibules du bout du monde), Marya Zarif (Dounia), author Colas Gutman and illustrator Marc Boutavant (Chien Pourri, la vie à Paris), and Fondation Tara Océan’s team (Océans, le mystère plastique) pre-recorded short introduction videos and answered students’ questions on Flip.

“This film and the activities helped me improve the unit on the arts, and the students really appreciated it.”

Mr. Boyo Diop, Davis High School, Houston, TX

22-23 Film Selection

CinéSchool aims to build greater awareness and understanding of French and French-speaking cinema among young students across the US.

Movies are presented online in French (with English subtitles when possible) on Festival Scope during a weekend and are accessible by invitation only to registered classes (limited number of free tickets available per movie). Students watch the film individually at home on their tablet or computer.
