The Richard Lounsbery Foundation aims to enhance national strengths in science and technology through support of transnational projects and funding of novel projects and forward-looking leaders. Among international initiatives, the Foundation has a long-standing priority in French-American cooperation.

Fostering leadership, learning and empathy between cultures, the Franco-American Fulbright Commission was established in 1948 to foster leadership, learning, and empathy between the United States and France. Today the Commission provides grants for its laureates to study and conduct research in the United States or in France, thanks to the funding of both French and American governments.
