A New Chapter in Bilateral Research

The French Embassy and FACE Foundation are launching the Thomas Jefferson Fund to support cooperation among the most promising young French and American researchers in the Humanities and Social Sciences, the Natural Sciences, and Science for Society. The Thomas Jefferson Fund aims to foster forward-looking collaborative research that addresses the most pressing global challenges.

In our globalized world of science and research, French-American cooperation is integral to achieving scientific breakthroughs and cutting-edge discoveries. Identifying solutions to key 21st-century challenges such as finding a cure for cancer, protecting the environment, advancing cybersecurity, and preserving cultural heritage requires global collaboration that transcends national and cultural borders.

Inspired by the third American President’s commitment to strengthening French-American relations, the Thomas Jefferson Fund will bring talented researchers together to strengthen their collaborative research activities, co-organize conferences, and author joint articles for high-level publications. By developing sustainable research partnerships and global networks that reflect the highest scientific and academic standards, the Thomas Jefferson Fund will enable these exceptional researchers to achieve groundbreaking discoveries.

As the first Hubert Curien Partnership between France and the United States, the Thomas Jefferson Fund will be officially recognized as a leading program in the French-American research landscape. Comprising 67 initiatives across 60 countries, these partnerships support mobility among leading scientists involved in bilateral research projects. As a concrete expression of our shared commitment to scientific cooperation, this collaborative research program will be endorsed by both governments, in France by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and in the United States by the Department of State.
