A Workshop for Experienced and New French DLI Teachers

In response to the need for qualified French DLI teachers, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the FACE Foundation are partnering with the University of Utah’s L2 TReC to develop the first French DLI Professional Development Summer Institute.

The Institute will provide teachers with training in curriculum development, classroom management and use of resources specific to French DLI, as well as the opportunity to network and work closely with professionals in the field.

— When? July 8-12, 2019

— Where? Held on the University of Utah campus.

— Who? All experienced and new French DLI teachers can apply to attend the workshop.

NEXT Application deadline: TO BE ANNOUNCED

The workshop is sponsored by the FACE Foundation in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States and The University of Utah.

The Workshop

The workshop has three main objectives:

— Empowering new teachers who are starting or joining a French DLI program.

— Presenting new techniques, resources and ideas to already established teachers.

— Building beyond a K-6 program.

Throughout the workshop, participants will work on curriculum development (elementary, secondary and beyond). Resources and curricula will be shared throughout the institute and teachers will develop lesson plans to help open and sustain their programs. Workshop presenters will come from across the United States (California, Georgia, Louisiana, New York, Utah...), showcasing their experience in a variety of contexts and with a range of model types.

Logistics Registration Fee: $150. Hotel (based on double occupancy), breakfast and lunches will be covered for out of state participants.

A single supplement at $65 per night is available for those participants wanting a solo room. Lunches for in-state teachers are included with the workshop.

Capacity: Space is limited to 30 participants.

Selection Process

Applicants will receive notification of their registration status by April 15, 2019.

Once participants have been notified of their selection, registration and payment must be finalized by April 30, 2019.
After this date, spots will be allocated to waitlisted applicants.
