Supporting French-American Cultural Exchange in Education and the Arts

Overview

The Los Angeles Chapter of FACE Foundation is committed to fostering connection between the city of Los Angeles, the southwestern region of the United States, and the nation of France. By focusing on three main cultural fields: Art, Education, and Cinema, FACE in Los Angeles engages, entwines, and elevates the offerings of these communities.

FACE Foundation is an American nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting French-American relations through innovative cultural and educational projects. In partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States, FACE Foundation promotes artistic, literary and educational exchange and collaboration between creative professionals from both countries.

Our Initiatives

CECI N’EST PAS…
SUPPORT OUR 2019 EDITION OF CECI N’EST PAS…

A 3-month long cultural season celebrating exchanges between French and Los Angeles artists, curators and institutions, Ceci n’est pas... aims to bring these artistic communities together and to inspire future collaborations.

Starting in February 2019, this unique program will encompass visual art exhibitions in key institutions of the Los Angeles area, research study trips and programs with French institutions and schools, art, artist residencies, and a performance festival.

Ceci n’est pas... is an ambitious project shaping a large artistic community across the European and American continents!

STUDY IN FRENCH
SUPPORT THE BILINGUAL REVOLUTION AND HELP EDUCATE THE FUTURE BILINGUAL AND "BICULTURATE" GENERATION!

In Los Angeles, 7 public schools are now operating French dual-language immersion programs, and at least 2 new ones will be opening in 2018, serving a total of 1,000 students. Bilingual students are better positioned to access top-tier universities and gain entry into an increasingly global job market.

The FACE-LA chapter seeks to help public schools create and strengthen sustainable French language programs by prioritizing:

Professional training for administrators and teachers.
Provision of textbooks specifically designed for bilingual programs.
Grants for French nationals to come work as teacher assistants.

STUDY IN FRANCE
HELP A STUDENT GO TO FRANCE AND BECOME AN AMBASSADOR OF BOTH FRENCH AND AMERICAN CULTURES!

20,000 American students go to France every year to get a degree, learn French and discover the "savoir-vivre à la française". The "Study in France" fellowship will give the opportunity to underprivileged, deserving students to benefit from a study abroad experience while enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

This initiative will offer them access to a unique experience likely to foster career choices and strengthen cultural, academic and economic ties between France and Southern California.

This fellowship will cover the expenses related to one academic year in France (10 months).

YOUNG FRENCH TALENTS IN CINEMA
MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR YOUNG FRENCH WRITERS, PRODUCERS AND DIRECTORS NOMINATED IN VARIOUS SHORT AND DOCUMENTARY CATEGORIES TO ATTEND THEIR AWARD CEREMONY IN LA

By supporting the Young French Talents Fellowship, you will:

— Give them the opportunity to campaign for their nomination, attend dedicated screenings followed by Q&A organized by the cultural services, and take part in their award ceremony.
— Help them receive significant media exposure.
— Expand their professional network through a tailored program, in the hope of starting their next project.

The Young French Talents Fellowship is a $ 2,500.00 grant per nominated project (Economy airfare + 5-night accommodation).
